Association of Administrative Assistants
ASSOCIATION DES ADJOINTS ADMINISTRATIFS

The Association of Administrative Assistants is a Canadian chartered non-profit professional organization founded in April 1951. The Association is proactive in encouraging its members to further their education and enhance their career opportunities by continuously upgrading their skills and professionalism. Association members are encouraged to obtain the Qualified Administrative Assistant (Q.A.A.) designation. The Qualified Administrative Assistant Program consists of three compulsory courses and four elective courses offered at eighteen post secondary institutions across Canada. The first graduating class was in May 1960. In May 2009, the Q.A.A. designation was awarded to our 694th graduate.

OUR MOTTO

Professionalism Through Education

OUR MISSION

To assist members in the continuing development of administrative skill, underlying knowledge and professional growth, thus enhancing employment opportunities and contributions to both the workplace and the community.

OUR VISION

The Association envisions itself being widely recognized, both by its professional peers and by the broader business community. Its members will demonstrate, through consistent, excellent performance in the workplace, the value of the professional designation - Qualified Administrative Assistant (Q.A.A.). This designation will become an important criterion in the hiring and promotion of key personnel.

OUR CREST

The Association logo: The Association's crest was certified as the Association's exclusive trade-mark by the Registrar of Trade-Marks for Canada under date of November 3, 2006, bearing the number 124,213. No more appropriate design could portray our 'corporate image' than the open book and quill. The book, the mark of the student, the seeker of improvement; the quill, the mark of the scribe, he who executes and puts to use the knowledge acquired.

CURRENT NEWS

We recently inaugurated the new Greater|Grand Sudbury Branch. The National Executive along with the new Branch executive and invited guests were hosted at Canisius Hall with Dr. Pierre Zundel, President and Vice-Chancellor at Sudbury University, providing a wonderful speech on the value of an administrative assistant. The Branch's new executive gave the Association pledge and we are looking forward to seeing their meeting schedule and other information on the branch pages. Our next Annual General Meeting in early June 2010 will be held in Collingwood Ontario at the Blue Mountain Resort. We are also working towards more university-level courses available for the Qualified Administrative Assistant Program at more facilities across Canada.
